Tinkerbell Legacy - Living with a flying parrot

The start of my next chapter
shanlung
.

Just to let folks following me I started on that next chapter.
Now is 6pm the next day 26 Feb 2013, after I arrived in Taiping about 815am this morning. Flat on my stomach on bed resting my aching legs and typing out this entry. And listening to my collection of favourite songs on youtube. I was checking youtube and compiling a list of songs that I like.

Sorry, none of those new fangled music.

Folks would recognised the era of my life in my choice of songs and singers.
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKroTZUf_YOdvxRNr7w5MSDsvAYm9ufYB

In the English songs, you might have known and like those songs and the singers.

In addition, you might notice a lot of Chinese songs, by singers you never heard of.
Do try to find the time to listen to Teresa Teng. And one of my favourite song by her is
Camelia 山茶花 a beautiful poignant love song even if you do not know Chinese.
Listen to to her other songs in my list. I think you will go on to love her. Even my Bedouin Arab friends got to love her from the CDs I played of her as we went wandering in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 6-7 years ago.

I never liked Chinese songs until I work and lived in Taiwan. And got to love Hokkien songs as well.
That you will hear from Chen Lei. Try him.

I am staying in Potato Hotel, USD75 for 3 nights A/C, free Wifi , squeaky clean and comfortable . Crazy name, which was why I decided on whim and booked via Internet. But only for 3 nights notwithstanding I was going to stay in Taiping for 4 weeks or so.
I actually wanted to book another hotel, Hotel Fuliyean. Except you could not see Hotel Fuliyean via Internet.
So I thought better get one hotel first and fix the rest later when I got here.

On the map, Taiping seemed small. But when I started walking from Potato Hotel to Taiping town, the distances were huge or my legs a lot weaker, probably both. I really needed to build up the legs prior to heading for Pokhara and other places.

I decided early in that walk that I would buy a cheap bicycle here. One can get a lot faster on 2 wheels than on 2 legs. Renting a car would separate me from the place. To make my wife smile, I bought a cycle painted shocking pink, rejecting another in electric blue. Cost me MYR$190 with a lock thrown in(100MYR=USD32.24). I would use it for 3-4 weeks and told the shop owner I might give the cycle back to them. They were delighted when I told them I was considering retiring in Taiping and will be staying here 3-4 weeks to check this town out.

I liked this place already even 30 minutes into my walk. I heard bird songs I never heard before. Folks on bicycles and small bikes in the rustic road between Potato Hotel and Taiping were greeting me. I thought they greeted someone else until I realised it was me that they were saying hi to , or smiling to, or waving to.

With the Maxwell hills wreathed in mists and clouds popping up over the Taiping lakes that I cycled to, this reminded me to Taiwan.

Later on I found Hotel Fuliyean and will be moving there this coming friday. They decided against credit card which was why they were invisible to booking agents. At MYR$60/night, it was cheaper than Potato and in heart of town as well. On hearing that I bought the bike and might be giving to the cycle shop, the proprietress urged me to give her, and I could borrow and use the bike when I should be back in Taiping. Worth considering.

My Malaysian $ went like smoke, and considering Fuliyean believed in cash, I had to change more.
But cost of living , and friendliness of folks here is so heart warming. A filling delicious lunch cost me MYR$3 and iced Coke MYR$1.7

I told others I was on this track on morning of 25 Feb 2013 in a forum where Taoists, or folks who think they are Taoists met. I signed off there as Idiotic Taoist, or Taoistic Idiot.

Later on , in yet another forum http://www.as3-web.org/, a support group for folks kicking bastard Old Nic, I told them too, extracting to that AS3 forum my letter from thetaobums.com

That was in http://www.as3-web.org/discuss/index.php?topic=2402.0
Kind of farewell letter

I wrote that in another forum where we talk of the Tao
http://thetaobums.com/topic/26951-what-defines-a-daoist/page-18

That I append here
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
To folks of the Tao,

even if we cannot agree as to what the Tao is.

I beg absence of leave for some time as I embarked on my own journey on the Path.

I am seeking for a place to retire in. I wrote of that a bit earlier in my blog. http://shanlung.livejournal.com/140773.html

Definately not in Singapore where I have the misfortune to be born in and holding the passport here. Which has the distinction of being the most miserable country in a Gallup polls finding. It also has the distinction of the most unemotional country in another Gallup polls finding.

Even when compared to folks of basketcase countries like BanglaDesh or Phillipines.

Even when compared to folks in war torn counties like Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria.

Or even both in one such as in Somali

Read that in a blog below.

Singapore. The most miserable people in the world, says Gallup poll
http://singaporedissident.blogspot.sg/2012/12/singapore-most-miserable-people-in.html

Much unlike what the regime here portray as very happy people and all blessings including rising of the sun and falling of rain and blossoming of flowers entirely due to the wise leadership of the government of Singapore. Might amuse you the world 30 top highest paid politicians are all found in Singapore.

http://mysingaporenews.blogspot.sg/2009/04/top-30-highest-paid-politicians-in.html

So before you bad mouth your politicians, think how lucky you are compared to folks in Singapore. They cannot be voted out. So I vote with my feet.

To find that place to retire in, I cannot rely on what others say. I need to go there, and live there for 3-4 weeks to see if I will fit in. I live simply and worked long enough not to have to work anymore. I will be going to a few places to check them out.

So I will eventually be going to Pokhara, Nepal. To Laos and China.

Probably to Spain and Central America and later to Ecuador.

I dislike cities, preferring hamlets and small towns and close to mountains or the sea.

This evening in about ten hours time, I have a bus ticket that will take me to the first of that destination. Taiping of Perak in Malaysia. To be there for 3-4 weeks, followed by XYZ or where ever the Tao lead me to and that I can feel closer to the Tao even if I cannot know what the Tao is.

If LZ (LaoZi) would have his rathers, I think he probably would rather sit in a bus instead of the back of an ox.

Obviously I might not be in the Internet , or in it for brief visits.

I feel that when I get back here, you all will not be any closer to defining a Taoist , or the Tao or even what fa jing (check what I wrote in thetaobums on taijichuan) is.

Or find you all making a wiser choice of just sitting around and enjoying tea.

LiBai mash making.
About 300 grams of beef mince, with 200 grams of chicken mince and 150 grams of dried anchovies(for the calcium). That was all done up to the kitty mash formula I wrote about in
Pakistan//Tinkerbell Kitty Mash//Dommie at the beach Ramadhan 2010 //Villa walkabout 2
http://shanlung.livejournal.com/119237.html
Instead of the almond and brazil nuts, about 100 grams of human grade groundnuts(peanuts) were used.
