Tinkerbell Legacy - Living with a flying parrot

Holland in Final // Aquarium & Yiti// Jaws & forgiveness// Handover to Jabri

Holland in Final

Holland is now in the Final. Kicking out that rubbish Uruguay who cheated and stole their way into their totally undeserved semifinal over Ghana. I like to believe only the mothers of the Uruguay players cheered for them and no one else of quality cheered for those nauseating Uruguayan cheaters.

I will not know who Holland will play with. The other semi final games will start off just as our plane takeoff from Muscat tarmac to Amsterdam. 8 arm mystic Paul prediction was for Spain. Perhaps again, it might not only be parrots that make jokes. I prefer Germany to be in the Final. Whoever play Holland in that Final, perhaps you all might catch sight of me and my wife cheering away in Amsterdam as we watch that on a giant screen there.

Aquarium & Yiti

We hardly stepped out of the villa during day of the last few weeks because of the heat and humidity. Sunday was better being 38C instead of earlier mid 40s C.

We tried visiting the public aquarium in Muscat in the past and found it closed. And found it opened only during office hours which of course, found me in the office instead. So on that day, we decided to go there with Riamfada.

Entry was free, so I cannot complain too much as something about looking at teeth of free horses lurked in the back of my mind.

There was this tank with sea turtles swimming in it.

I got Riam to fly to me. She did so, but she must have an aversion to creatures with flippers which must have seemed to be flying behind me.

She came, and then flew up to top of the tank. I had to go around and behind the tank looking bewildered , that my silly wife captured, and calling her before she flew back to me.

Sequence here

Riamfada did not like the trigger fishes either. She moved from the usual left shoulder to the right shoulder to be further away.

That aquarium was after Musquat old town, and near Yiti. We decided to drive to Yiti, a place we been to a few times before we found other places. Harry lived there. I gave him call to find him in the office as it was a working day. We remained friends even if Riamfada was not going to him. So we will see him, his family and emus and peacocks after we got back.

We drove to Yiti to find Cyclone Phet wreaked devastation there. Roads were washed away , some houses had collapsed and track remained.

We drove to Yiti portion on the beach to find that part to be fine togther with its goats. It was the part in the Yiti valley which were damaged. We stopped the car to walk in the village to see if we could find the blue cats we see in the past. We saw cats, but not the blue cats. There were kids (human children) in that village who were delighted when we did a few flights of Riamfada. We got back to the car to find a goat making use of our SUV to munch some leaves.

We then came back and decided to stop for lunch at the Zanzibar restaurant. Riamfada was very welcomed there.

Jaws & forgiveness

You recalled Riam chewing on what I called the chewables on the wobbly perch?

It took her a day to demolished that.

I added the chewed branch from the ring perch to the wobbly perch and she shortened that by 3 inches in an hour.

If you recalled the photos of that ring perch, I wrapped coarse twine around the branch, partly to make that branch last.

That ring perch got another section of branch instead. I wish I knew what tree that was from. That was from some garden discard I found in the back lane and I sawed off many sections of that intending to use as perches.

Kind of moot to find if that tree was 'safe'. Riam had been chewing on that kind of wood for a year now. Riam had not keeled over yet. There are only 2 sections of that branch left at home.

It was not just wood and chewables that Riam chewed on. My sweet wife bought me a book for my birthday. Yesterday morning I took that book out intending to start on it.

Riam was out of her room. In fact, I left her room door opened so she could fly back into her room as she liked , or join me in the living room.

So that she would be less feisty, I even gave her a shower yesterday. She immedately flew back to her room to dry out.

I was at my laptop, engrossed in chess games. I heard her flying out and landing on the basket behind me. I turned around to give her headrubs and went back to my game. I heard her fly to ring, then had her touch down on my shoulder before she flew to the bar. Then a touch down from her and heard her flew back to the ring.

Then I was caught into my game.

Then I realised I have not heard from her and felt something very wrong. I turned around and found her on top of my new birthday book.

I shouted curses at Riamfada.

I thought the shower would mellow her for an hour. I was wrong. I was very annoyed. Riamfada could have chose my wife's saccharin Mary Balough regency book to chew, especially since I finished it. That rescuing of whats left of my book took a few precious seconds and cost me yet another chess game that I was about to win.

Riam got banished to her room for at least 30 minutes.

In the evening, we had our normal neighbourhood walk.

And doing a recall down the road. The thought of that chewed up book still annoyed me. Just as she took off, I started to scold Riam again for chewing that book. Then I saw her winging higher and higher and no longer in line to land on my shoulder. I immediately took back my words and told her I was joking. She flew over my left shoulder and then I heard her wings whirled and she was turning around to my right side. Instead of landing on my right shoulder as I thought, she continued on and appeared in front of my face, hovering in the air for a couple of seconds. She then landed on my left shoulder having made a complete turn around me.

I could only grin at my wife. She grinned back and said none of that was captured on her camera. You have seen we taken so many sequential shots on Flickr. There were even more shots on camera we had not bothered to upload. And she thought that was another typical recall. And of course, when camera not on, Riam would pick that time to do something really nice.

We then went to the steel gate for my ritual smoke and her ritual chew, on that tiny Syrian pear instead of the usual cherry.

We then went into that untenanted villa across the road. Where she chose her own cherry

Handover to Jabri

The Jabris will be looking after Riamfada for the 16 days we are away.

Last night after the neighbourhood walk and goodnight ritual with Riam with her placed to sleep in her room, we took the bar stand to the Jabris.

Bar stand on side in the car White strips are cable ducts tied onto bottom to serve as newspaper supports for the poop.

This morning Riamfada was taken to Jabri in her cage, with a baggie of thawed mash and 2 baggies of frozen mash. And with the wobbly perch and ring perched that I fixed up in Jabri's house

I knew we were here in Oman on borrowed time since the end of last year. Ever since early this year, I expected I have to leave Oman and all my creatures here. If you have not known about all that and wondered why I cannot take Riamfada with me, please read the following.

Riamfada foraging // 3 days 2 nights at Wadi Bani Awf and ending of this chapter

Closing this chapter//Buwah off Harban with Dommie// Beautiful Wadi Qurai

Dedication // Raining curses on Katie at Al Felaij Dam // Riam in cage at Jabri

Mystic octopus // Snake Tshirt and more hide&seek recalls //Countdown to chapter end

It is painful enough for me as it is. So please read or re-read above before you write to me wondering why I have to leave them. Please do not make it even more painful for me to reply and tell you things I have said above because you had not read that.

For those that through no fault of their own, or otherwise, and had to part painfully and unwillingly from their beastie or birdies, whether in the past, or the present, or in the future, I dedicate the saga of Riamfada that I had wrote , and continue to write to that final handover , to you all.
