Mohammed J. with his wife Zakia and daughter Asia came over to my villa to see Riamfada and the way she lived with us on 6th January in the evening after work. They read of her, but nothing could match the face to face encounter and to see for themselves.

They lived a few minutes drive from my place.

It was easy enough to see the love on all their faces when we all went into Riamfada's room. I showed them how to get Riamfada to step up and that step up is such an integral part of interacting with Riamfada or any other bird for that matter.

We then went to the kitchen to show Tinkerbell mash in the fridge as well as the remaining 2 packages of mash in the freezer as the basic food that she had.

That was followed by seeing the stuff which went into Tinkerbell's Mash which I called up in my livejournal. They said they will be delighted to come to see how the mash will be cooked up on day of cooking

They watched how the harness was put onto Riamfada and came for our neighbourhood walkabout.

I explained how important it will be to interact with respect. One by one, they all got to beak rub Riamfada. Always from the front, telling her in advance and watching her response, and never ever from the back. I hold their hands to make sure they understood no sudden movements. They all love it. Riamfada seemed to like them very much too.

It is clear that J family definately love Riamfada too. And even more important, Riamfada reacted very well to them. They told us they had a grey before. Even in the few months with them, they all fell in love with her. When she suddenly died, their hearts were broken.

We arranged to visit them at their place the following weekend.

We went there for the 2nd time on 8th January 2010 at 3 pm. In the morning, we all went to Seeb village with Riamfada on my shoulder to buy 2 kg of sunflower seeds. There must have been at least 5 serious offers to buy Riamfada from different people even before they saw her fly to me on recalls. I had to tell them Riam was like my daughter before they withdrew their offers, at any price I set.

We have been to Harry's place before. It was late by time we reached his place on 25 Dec 09 and not enough light to take photos.

It was different this time. He lived there with his Omani wife and his 2 lovely daughters with his dogs and other denizens of his farmyard.

Their flock of chickens, geese, ducks, guinea fowl were all free ranging only coming into the coop at night because of the foxes that roamed in the rocky hills behind. He delighted me in telling me of the owl that would fly in every night to get at the mouse and rats.

This is more a photo essay, and the photos will speak for themselves
