It sounds like some aspect of your "manhandling" crossed the line for YS, so he's now reacting to you specifically. However, you have conditioned him to receive touching, so he's receptive to Joy (and she hasn't crossed his line yet) Maybe he knows she is the toymaker too? Good luck with it! "

:-)

It is fascinating to see how YS was playing me off against Joy by allowing her to touch him yesterday and specifically refused that to me. I actually enjoyed that as it help me to get over my quilt. I am used to that kind of deliberate snubbing behaviour from Tinkerbell. When Tink was annoyed at me, she would so deliberately fly to Joy instead of me when I recalled her. But of course, they eventually forgive me after they made their point.

I had to do that manhandling of YS to up the ante and to see what was his limit, as otherwise I would not have known. Its a lonely road when you are the first guy walking on it. Nice of you to keep me company.

YS accepted the manhandling at the beginning. But what annoyed him was that not only I hold on for too long, but was doing that in fairly rapid succession. All part of Plan A you know. How nice that I did not know what plan A was when I started and can claim everything as plan A.

ggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

I made some changes to the routine today.

But of course, Ivan first get locked up. Then I opened the sliding door for YS to join me while I go about preparing my coffee and breakfast. I needed that coffee before anything rational can be done. With YS on the fan, I walked over with the milli box. Recalls from you were not so much of a problem any more. But handling him acquired an added urgency. Talking gently to him with him feeding from the milli, I told him backrub was good for him. Taking his silence as agreement, and his not backing away as confirmation, I gave him gentle backrubs. With fingers and hand in place already, I gave him a gentle body squeeze. Then I backed off and went to the scales.

845 am

YS was at 32.7// MM at 38.1 gm // milli at 22.2 // suri at 70.4

Interesting he did not finish the MM as there was still a bit left. If MM was at 38.0 or less, I would consider that as finished. You have seen in past records that he would have left 37.9 or 38.0 .

He was surprised when I paused again in front of him on the fan. Instead of recalls, I thought I would do that handling again. He allowed backrubs and body squeeze. And it was not HIMB either. When he started to shift from me, I thought I better go on to the recalls. All those recalls went as well as could be expected. Perhaps with a bit of cheating on his part in that he chosed places nearer to me to launch off from.

Then it was back to the fan for yet more of the handling. I decided I do without the manhandling grasp, limiting myself to backrubs, underwing body rubs and body squeezing. When he started to back off from me, I called a stop.
And weighed the milli at 21.8 gm.

Which so happened was my coffee and ciggie break. YS knew, and in a while I heard him in the kitchen while I watched the news. Eventually I looked for him there to find he was in the bedroom instead. He interrupted his admiration of himself on the dressing table mirror to fly to me on recall to get his c n t before being send back to the fan on the table. He got more backrubs and a body squeeze.

I was in the PC room and later heard him in dining area calling to me. I called back and much to my pleasure, he flew in to me soon after, first landing on the fan and then to my hand. Folks, I honestly do not know how to classify this.

Part of me wanted to accept that he did a complete hide & seek recall to me, which included two 90 degree turns to me. But he landed on the fan first. So perhaps he was coming on his usual sortie into the PC room. And of course, he got his c n t just in case.

He settled into the room soon enough changing his perch from the fan, to the chair, to top of cupboard and back to chair. He was preening and preening and fluffing his feathers contentedly next to me. Now and then, I walked over to twirl my fingers at his head. And he would burst out into the very soft chirping and singing interspersed with light pecking on my finger tips and hovering to be 'king of the hill' on top of my finger tips.

So I thought a more formal hs recalls should be done with him. I went out to get a suri on tweezer and walked past the open door of the PC room. To my amazement, before I could get past the door to position myself out of sight to do recall, he took off from the chair and came after me. I had no choice, and in any case I was very pleased as well, and I raised my finger for him to land on and surrender the suri. He took that and flew back into the PC room. What sort of recall was that. I guess I call that Interception & Hijack recall.

Now I knew he was on the chair, with yet another suri, I tried a 1/2 hs recall without going past that open door in case he did another IH recall. At sound of 'come here', I heard him took off, and then I saw him flying to other side of room to catch sight of me and he came straight for his finger perched. So he gave me an 'almost but not quite' 1/2 hs recall.

With yet another suri, I walked past the door and was bounced on by him in his IH recall. Considering the 3 suris were nice fat succulent suris, I was quite happy and that he did well. Especially when he was on the fan and allowed me to backrub, underwing body rub and a couple of body squeeze.

At 1 pm, he was at 33.5 and the milli at 18.8 and suri box empty at 69.8

He was left in the flight room until 445 pm.

He was at 32.6 gm. He came on recalls very readily. Then I thought I would give him a cricket at 1.1 gm. After which he had no more interest in coming to me on recalls. I wondered if that was his singing session or that big fat cricket that he was not interested in me and my recalls. Quite likely it was a combination.

Still to be fair to him, I let him back into the apartment for him to sing and for me to do my thing.

At 630 he was at 33.5 gm. The milli at 18.4 gm. I also gave MM at 38.4 gm and inserted in after he slept.

Perhaps I will try the harness on him tomorrow
