Tinkerbell Legacy - Living with a flying parrot

1/4 hs recall
shanlung
.

815am , the weighing (what can I say, and you know that was after breakfast etc)

MM at 38.1 gm// YS at 32.6 gm // milli at 23.2 gm // suri at 71.5 gm // cricket at 31.0 gm

With YS at 32.6 gm and my intention to take him down to 31 gm morning weight, I thought I better hold the MM for the time being. I just had too much suris and millis and crickets, and as you know, not only their guts were loaded, but their tissue was loaded too from what I being feeding them. I did not need lower weight for obediance of him to my cues. I really felt for his well being, a leaner shama will live healthier than a fat shama.

The exercises started with short recalls again with military precision from YS. He prempted me by flying to land on the mesh on the front door as I walked towards it. So that first intermediate distance recall took place across a distance even shorter than that short recall. He was thrown back to the fan where he then did the more proper intermediate distance recalls. Then I walked to the kitchen door for the distant recall. But as he landed on the back of chair in dining area refusing to go to the fan as wanted by me, the distant recalls occured over a distance shorter than the short recalls.

As usual, I had more coffee and ciggie while he was flying loops around my head from the fan while waiting for me to continue on.

The back rubs were then done. He got so used to the body squeeze that he continue to eat his millis even as my fingers were holding on to his wings and body.

The millis were at 22.4 gm after that morning training session or .8 grams of millis just for this round. With 6 millis to .1 gm, that was about 50 millis taken. At about 2 per flight, you can work out how many flights, backrubs and body squeezes took place. And you understand better my intermediate need for coffee and ciggie.

While I procrastinated, YS flew into the PC room waiting for me. A few recalls were done and body rubs and body squeezes. And now and then, he flew off to the bedroom where he admired himself in the dressing table mirror. He knew that was him in the mirror as he preened and fluffed himself.

Later he came back to PC room.

I then decided to try a hide&seek recall (hs recall). I called him from outside the PC room. He refused to fly to me. I stuck my left hand so that would be visible to him while I hide behind the door. I called and he came. He circled out till that angle he could see me and then he flew to the hand.
Not a true hs recall. Since I defined hs recall required him flying past two 90 degree turn, the hs recall that he did was maybe at best 1/4 hs recall. I tried that a few times. He required part of me to be visible or he would not even bother.

Shortly after, we went back to flight area. The crickets I feed him were big. I gave him one and the cricket box dropped .9 gm to 30.1 gm. Then another cricket to take that the c box to 29.4 gm.

I then weighed him at 10.30 am to be 34.5 gm. I then decided he should remain in the flight room to digest that food and poop that out there.

At 1205, he was down to 33.5 gm and was allowed out again. He flew into the living room with vengence and circled a few times. Eventually he joined me in the PC room. I periodically acknowledged him with offers from the milli box for his recalls to me. Now and then, a suri was thrown in as treats before I went off for lunch.

His weight at 545 pm was at 34.0 gm
The milli at 20.1 // suris at 70.9 // cricket at 28.3 gm with still one cricket left
