Tinkerbell Legacy - Living with a flying parrot

More backrubs

YS was singing on and off when I woke up. I let him into the apartment as usual while I prepared and ate my breakfast following the news on CNN and BBC. The dominant story was of course, the Hamas election victory. The strangest part of this saga was that the Hamas was started by Ariel Sharon. I guess that gave you folks a shock. But apparently, Hamas was started as an alternative to El Fatah and meant to draw off the power base of Arafat who was detested by the Israelis that time. But instead of being a stooge of Sharon, Hamas developed in a different way from what was planned. I wished all the people in that area well. I am in Israeli parrot web site as well as Arabic parrot websites. I think my website is a place where both of them met in peace and happiness. Hopefully, that area and the people there can come to terms with each other with mutual agreement and live whatever is left of life on this shakey planet in peace and harmony.

At 930am, the MM was at 38.0 gm, or a drop of 0.3 gm. YS was at 31.6 gm. That came as a shock to me. I knew my MM was high protein high energy concentrated stuff with lots of goodies, but still, YS at 31.6 gm was incredible. Interesting enough, YS best morning singing was at less than 31.0 gm.

The milli was at 22.3 gm and the suri at 71.0 gm and cricket at 29.0 gm.

A couple of short pure recalls were done as usual to warm up. Then as I walked to the door to do intermediate recalls, YS was again following me and hovering to keep pace with me. He could not have been that hungry now. Perhaps he got into the habit.

I let him land on my finger for a couple of millis before sending him back to the fan. Then the proper recalls were carried out.

That was followed by long recalls. I tried not to do too much so less treats be given.

He then came to me in the PC room. He got suris for that. After a few recalls in the PC room, I walked up to him on the fan. With HIMB, I went on to stroke deeper on his back. He made a few token protest and bites at me. Those bites were more like gentle nibbles. I got emboldened and stroked his back. I hold my finger there. He accepted that for a while before he protested.

When we eventually got out to the living room and he was on that fan perch, I gently stroked his back while he was feeding. I tried to put my finger under his wings. He protested and I stopped, but continued to stroke his back. A few times, I did not even have to use two fingers the way I related yesterday.

At 1045 am, YS was at 32.1 and the MM at 21.2

At 1 pm, YS was at 33.1 gm and the milli at 19.2 gm and suris at 70.6 gm. I weighed 23 milli = 0.3 gm. That was his lock up time so Ivan could be liberated. He got a couple of crickets.

At 3 pm, YS was at 33.2 gm. The milli at 18.9 gm and the cricket was at 27.7 gm.

As today was the eve of the CHinese New Year, my wife and I were going to her mom's place for the traditional Chinese New Year dinner.

We had to leave the apartment soon.

At 5 pm, YS was at 33.4 gm and the millis at 18.3 gm and the suri at 69.8.

Later this evening when I got back, fresh MM at 38.3 was placed into YS cage for his morning breakfast.
