Tinkerbell Legacy - Living with a flying parrot

YS getting deeper into apartment
shanlung
.

I got up late. No Ivan with his cold cold nose to wake me up.

So at 10am, I was with my coffee and breakfast watching news on TV with Yingshiong looking in at me. Since I was later than usual today, I did have a twinge of guilt. Then I thought why not just let YS into the living room first while I was still having my breakfast and coffee. So I slide open the glass door and immediately, YS flew in and perched on the fan. I could then finish my breakfast without the guilt of watching him watching me.

When I went to weigh his bowl, I was aghast to find I forgot to place that back into his cage. The MM was at 38.4, the same as evening before.

I threw that away and weighed in new MM at 39.7 gm. Before I could remove the bowl and signal to YS, YS flew right in and landed on top of that bowl on the scale. I shooed him off, replace the bowl in the cage and invited YS back on the scale. YS was at 32.3 gm

I went back into the living room and he followed me onto the fan waiting for my cues. His recall to me was prompt. I then moved deeper into the room until point of resistance from YS. I then waved a suri as extra incentive to get him to fly to me. The recall distance was now at about 25 feet.

Then at even further distance, YS just refused to fly to me. I went back nearer, did a recall and step up to my shoulder. Holding the milli box to him, I walked slowly deeper into the apartment, and then into the PC room. He then flew off my shoulder and landed on the book shelves with periodic forays on to the chairs and PCs. He go familiar enough to fly out of the PC room and into the favourite Ivan's room except Ivan was no longer around. He refused to fly to me and he kept flying off every time I got near him. I decided to leave him alone until he calmed down and went back into the PC room.

After an hour, I was just about to get worried for YS. Then I heard his singing. So I guessed he was doing ok. I went back to see him, got him to do step up and I took him back to the hall. He immediately flew off back to his cage and he stayed there for some time.

At 2 pm, the MM was at 39.3 or 0.4 gm less than morning. YS was at 33.5 gm

At 5 pm, I got rid of the MM including the rest of that old batch of MM. I prepared fresh MM yesterday and I will be using that new batch.

I filled in enough fresh MM into that 37.8 gm bowl to tip the scale at 50.0 gm.

I added enough SinLin to another bowl (34.3 gm) to tip the scale at 46.6 gm

YS was at 34.8 gm. After the weighing, I fed him 3 succulent crickets, so he should be at 36.0 gm at least. He also got the rest of the millis in the feeding box.

The 2 water bowls were washed and filled to the brim with water. The bath tub was also washed and filled with water.

I double checked the wire that kept his cage door opened was secured.

We will be leaving at 630 am on Monday. I think YS should have more than enough food and water in his flight room until we get back next Saturday.

I wish all a Merry Christmas and a happy festive season.
