Riamfada at home and flying through tiny gaps

A day after I posted that last blog, the remaining orange kitty Noname was adopted by another family.

The kitty mash that I made for 3 kitties and Dommie filled the freezer together with Tinkerbell Mash batch 9.

The top half of the freezer, including that Twist icetray is packed with Tinkerbell Mash batch 9 for Riamfada. If I had added veges into the mash, there would not be any space left. For that matter, you noticed in my mash making, the pot was so filled that I always have sweet potatoes and carrots left over.

Those frozen Wyman's mixed berries are for Riamfada by the way.

The bottom half of the freezer is packed with Kitty Mash. I barely have some space left for my icecream. Isn't that pathetic?

Further more, since we will be leaving soon, and we did not go to Dubai to stock up on frozen pork and Korean BBQ eels, or the freezer would be even more packed.

Instead of feeding mash to Riamfada in her room, I decided to feed the mash to her in the living room where she is with me most of the time. From time to time, Riamfada would be in disgrace for landing onto my ashtrays and trying to steal the ciggie butts. She then got banished back to her room. She would fly back there , so perhaps that banishment wasn't too hard on her that she would go willingly on her own to let me cool down.

So with Dyneema fishing line wrapped around the steel dish and silicon cemented as well, I fashioned that to a holding container on the perch. A China dish fitted into that dish for easy removal and cleaning to be used for the mash.

Riamfada joined me in the living room from the time I woke. The stick hanging down was one of her former hand perch that she seemed to like to chew. I have enough hand perches to allow her one to chew.

The other dish that you see in the folder is for water.

How kitty mash is made is in below. Perhaps you might like to make it too.

Riamfada love to eat the almonds on the perch. But almonds were in foraging jars. She would climb down to get the almond and then climbed up to eat that almond.

A video tells it better. More fun for her and more fun for us.

In the last blog, you seen the blue bath curtains outside flapping in the wind. I decided to hang those curtains across a doorway in the house instead of outside. The curtains do not flap in the house as obviously there was no wind with all the doors closed and the aircond on in the heat of the summer

I could adjust the curtains to have a small gap for Riamfada to fly through. I wrote earlier that Riamfada could fly through a tiny gap in the door to sneak into the kitchen. I could not and would not want to risk any injury to Riamfada , but the light curtains would be perfect to show that she could fly through a tiny gap.

And so can your parrot. So if you keep the door barely closed, that might not be as safe as you think.

That gap barely 2 ciggie boxes wide.

I then flew Riam to the perch in the living room. She easily flew through that gap.
The photos had to be taken in this way. If shot from the other way, the light from the sliding glass door would nuke the photos.

If you go to the folder and see those sequential shots, she flew through the gap. The curtains only flapped about from the draft of her winging past.

at point of curtain, this series of shots caught her adjusting her wings to fly through

As mentioned before, we made use of the relative emptiness of the beach during Ramadan to take Riamfada and Dommie to the beach. I do believe this will be the last Ramadan that Dom will be at the beach. It is not likely Omer will be taking DomDom to the beach in future Ramadan. Or to other places. But it is enough that Omer be providing love and care to Dommie.

You see how wide the wingspan can be, and you contrast that with her flying through that gap in the curtains above.

crabs in the sand is more fun than to remain by my side.

Villa walkabout 3

As mentioned in earlier report, we changed our neighbourhood walkabouts to walking about inside our villa.

I just could not learn. Or perhaps it might be my morbid curiosity even if I hold that puerile curiosity in abeyance.

I tried and tried. But Riamfada decided that landing on that wall was a lot more amusing to her than flying through that doorway and landing on me. With line-of-sight, she would fly through to me. But with hide & seek recall, she rather land on top of the wall.

I thought with enough of that, perhaps she would grow tired of her parroty joke on me and land on me.

I was wrong.

But she would then fly down to me from top of the wall when I called.

Provided she felt like it.

I could hold a perch up to her, but she would back off instead of doing that step up.

So you do need to cultivate patience, and grin and bear with it, and have a chair to sit and wait. Or shout at wife to get out a glass of fruit juice.

I knew we were here in Oman on borrowed time since the end of last year. Ever since early this year, I expected I have to leave Oman and all my creatures here. If you have not known about all that and wondered why I cannot take Riamfada with me, please read the following.

Riamfada foraging // 3 days 2 nights at Wadi Bani Awf and ending of this chapter

Closing this chapter//Buwah off Harban with Dommie// Beautiful Wadi Qurai

Dedication // Raining curses on Katie at Al Felaij Dam // Riam in cage at Jabri

Mystic octopus // Snake Tshirt and more hide&seek recalls //Countdown to chapter end

It is painful enough for me as it is. So please read or re-read above before you write to me wondering why I have to leave them. Please do not make it even more painful for me to reply and tell you things I have said above because you had not read that.

For those that through no fault of their own, or otherwise, and had to part painfully and unwillingly from their beastie or birdies, whether in the past, or the present, or in the future, I dedicate the saga of Riamfada that I had wrote , and continue to write to that final handover , to you all.
